SUST Signs a Partnership Agreement with the University of New Mexico

A partnership agreement was signed between Sudan University of Science and Technology, represented by the College of Engineering, and the University of New Mexico, USA, in the Project ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes).

Developed at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, Project Echo is a collaborative model of medical education and care management that helps clinicians provide expert-level care to patients wherever they are, by using video conferencing technology to train, advise, and support primary care providers. Furthermore, Project Echo increases Access to specialized treatment in rural and underserved areas for a variety of conditions.

The agreement represents a starting point for the Peace Engineering ECHO Hub at the SUSt’s College of Engineering to serve the Global Peace Engineering Vision 2020-2030.

The Hub focuses on four axes:

  1. Providing technical support regarding the implementation and adoption of the Echo project model in Sudan.
  2. Supporting and implementing engineering projects that solve real problems in Sudanese society (CERT).
  3. Providing a database and libraries in all fields of Engineering (TIS) Technology and Innovation Support.
  4. Providing support and assistance to engineering and student associations in Sudan to work in accordance with the sustainable development goals.
