Deputy Vice Chancellor of SUST Receives Malaysian Delegation

Prof. Abdelazim Suleiman Al-Mahal, deputy vice chancellor of Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST), received a delegation from the Malaysian Embassy, led by the wife of the Malaysian Ambassador, to visit the College of Fine and Applied Arts at SUST. The delegation was met by Dr. Mariam Abbas, Director of External Relations at SUST, academic staff of the College of Fine and Applied Arts and students.

Prof. Al-Mahal expressed his happiness with the visit and stressed that it comes within the framework of strengthening and consolidating Sudanese-Malaysian relations and developing coordination, noting that it aims to strengthen aspects of cooperation and exchange in the cultural and social fields, and it comes within the celebrations of the Malaysian Embassy in Khartoum on the Malaysian National Day.

He said, “The university has distinguished partnerships with the Malaysian embassy in terms of academic and cognitive aspects as well as the cultural and social, and the deadlines". He also indicated that Sudan and Malaysia are similar in many customs, traditions and cultures, and the visit represents an opportunity for students of the College of Arts to benefit from the experiences of Malaysian professors in the field of drawing and coloring.

The visit schedule included an introductory tour inside the Western Campus, a Malaysian folk dance with the participation of students, and an accompanying exhibition hosted by the College of Fine and Applied Arts, amid the students' interaction and harmony.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor of SUST Inaugurates Exhibitions of Fine Arts Graduates, Batch (74)

Prof. ‪Mahdi Abbas Saad Shakak, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Sudan University of Science and Technology, inaugurated the exhibitions of graduation projects for undergraduate students, Batch 74, at the College of Fine and Applied Arts in the Western Campus, which will be held from 26th to 31st March.

The inauguration was attended by Dr. Elfatih Ahmed Hassan, principal of the University, Dr. Abdelrahman Abdallah Hassan Ahmed Shanqal, Dean of the College of Fine and Applied Arts, Prof. Omer Mohamed Elhassan darma, Dean of the Deanship of Quality and Development, a large number of college deans, professors, plastic artists, and a group of students and those interested in the field.

Professor Mahdi Shakak welcomed the attendees, congratulating everyone on the launch of the graduation ceremonies for fine art students, describing the event as the happy occasion that the university organizes annually.

His Excellency indicated that the college professors are making great efforts with their students so that the exhibitions come out in the required manner and show the students’ creativity clearly, Skeptic also thanked the pioneers of artists for their support and advice and knowledge and a summary of experience and ideas for their students. He said "Art students are the makers of the most beautiful picture and the desired renaissance, and they painted the most wonderful painting of the country".

Prof Shakak invited all the attendees to enjoy the exhibitions that reflect the summary of the effort of the family of the College of Fine Arts, support their programs and contribute with the university administration in pushing and developing them.

Dr. Abdelrahman Shanqal emphasized in his speech that they stand on a great cultural and artistic legacy that has continued for nearly (74) years. He said "The College of Arts has clear contributions to the revolutionary movement and embodies the slogans of patriotism by the will of its students and graduates who are scattered inside and outside Sudan" and said that they are adopting major scientific and artistic projects Such as documentation of the memory of Sudan, plastic exhibitions, graduation projects, and all artistic creative activities.

In conclusion, he said "I am happy with the exhibitions, the quality of their products, the arrangement and organization, and I thank everyone who stood behind this mighty effort, and I am grateful to all the professors for their great roles and effective contribution".

The College of Engineering and ISES Celebrate the World Engineering Day 2022

The Integration of SUST Engineering Societies (ISES) organized a remarkable celebration, which was attended by engineering students in the Southern Campus, on the occasion of the International Day of Engineering, supervised by UNESCO and the Sustainable Development Program, which is held on the fourth of March annually. This year's celebration came under the slogan "Safety Engineering for Sustainable Development".

The celebration was attended by Professor Mahdi Abbas Shakak, acting vice chancellor of the University, and Dr. Taqwa Ahmed Musa, the intergation supervisor, and Dr. Aamir Abdullatif Dean, Head of the Engineering Consultation Department at the Engineering Consultation and Training Center and head of the Peace Engineering ECHO Hub at the Faculty of Engineering, representatives of engineering associations and organizations, engineering graduates, students and those interested in the field.

Professor Shakak valued the roles played by engineering societies and students of the College of Engineering in advancing the field of engineering integration, noting that the spearhead in sustainable development goals (SDGs) and making positive change belongs to the creative and innovative engineers with integrative ideas, especially in light of the current conditions the country is going through.

His Excellency also noted the need to achieve the desired and important goals of democratic sustainability, and said, “The College of Engineering represents the right arm and the true nucleus of the university, and of which we are proud in all forums and events.”

Professor Shakak also called for the care and development of engineering projects submitted by students and their inclusion within the contents of the official university website to reflect the scientific and research effort provided by the scientific incubator and its cadres at the university. He also indicated that the university administration gives great importance to communication with students and always seeks to aid and provide support and solve all their issues or what hinders their academic career.

Dr. Taqwa Ahmed Mousa expressed her happiness with the celebration on time. She said, “The students spent an appreciated and mighty effort that yielded success and reflected creativity.” She explained that the integrative process between global organizations and associations and their smart partnership with the College of Engineering achieved the desired goals that were manifested in the development of engineering works, sponsorship of ideas and patents, and awareness of the necessity of turning around the issues and interests of engineering students as well as internal and external communication and she stressed the importance of linking engineering disciplines with each other and working in a team spirit.

Dr. Taqwa also explained that the idea was developed by engineering integration associations that seek innovation, organize concepts and cross-fertilize visions. She said, “Our goal in the future is to build a strong base in which graduates meet with their colleagues at the university. We thank all those organizations and associations who supported the program.”

It is worth mentioning that Professor Shakak inaugurated the participating exhibitions accompanying the celebration, which reflected the efforts of the students and their scientific projects with the participation of the Ministry of Health, engineering institutions, student engineering associations and societies.

Closing of the Food Processing Course for Women Entrepreneurs

The activities of the training course on "Entrepreneurship in Food Manufacturing", were concluded in the buildings of the College of Agricultural Studies at Sudan University of Science and Technology. The training course was organized by the university in cooperation with the COMESA Federation of Businesswomen (Sudan Office) and the Business Incubator Program for African Women Entrepreneurs, with the participation of Giad Industrial Group and under the supervision of the Department of Food Science and Technology at the college of agricultural studies.

The closing of the course was honored by the attendance of Prof Mahdi Abbas Shkak, the deputy vice-chancellor of the University, Dr. Abbas Elshaikh Rahma Mohamed, Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Studies, representatives of COMESA, Giad Industrial Group, and a group of training course students, professors and those interested in the field.

Prof Mahdi Abbas Shkak valued, in his speech, the smart and fruitful partnerships that focus on the aspect of education, development and awareness of the sectors of society and its institutions in various fields of work and life. Prof Shkak also expressed their absolute belief in the role of science and technology and their effective and real contribution to the development process and development in various fields, as well as raising skills through receiving training and qualification.

He also stressed the need to make room for food manufacturing and providing the opportunity for producers and entrepreneurs to enter their products into the local markets because they contribute to giving an added value that will reflect positively on the national economy, pointing out that food manufacturing is the optimal investment for the country's diverse wealth, rich in resources and products, which qualifies it to be a global destination for all, that manufactures and exports products.

Dr. Abbas Elshaikh Rahma Mohamed said that the training course represents a breakthrough and openness to the world with knowledge and science to get out of the cycle of sieges and challenges that surround everyone. He said, “We always aim to provide everyone with renewable and advanced skills and capabilities in all fields, especially industrial ones and productivity. Sudan is fully qualified to be a basket basket. The world’s food and the wealth we possess prove that".

Dr. Rahma also explained that they are constantly striving to implement agreements and protocols on production and food security on the ground. And the brainstorming and knowledge that gained everyone the skills, capabilities and benefit necessary for food production, in addition to the added value of processed food products and their direct impact on the economy, as well as on the marketing side. He also emphasized the establishment of many workshops and training programs in the field and communication with houses of expertise and different production institutions.

In turn, representatives of the COMESA and Industrial Giad spoke and expressed their happiness with the establishment of the industrial food training course, stressing that it represents a real revolution in the field of development, production and self-development. They stressed the need to communicate with the university in the future because of the usefulness, valuable information, knowledge and scientific effort that added to them a lot.

A Final Inspection Tour of the Registration Process for New Students

Prof Awad Saad Hassan, Vice Chancellor of the university, made an inspection tour accompanied by Prof. Mahadi Abbas Shakak, Deputy Vice Chancellor of the university, Mr. Jalal Abdalrahman, Dean of Admission and Registration, Dr. Gamar Aldawla Hussein, Executive Director of the Vice Chancellor’s Office, and Dr. Huda Osman Abdallah, Manager of Public Relations and Media.

The tour inspected the activities of the final day of the new students registration process, at the registration locations in the western (main) campus and the College of Technology.

"Today is the end of the time period that was set for the registration of our new students", Prof Saad commented gratefully in a statement after the tour.

"With continuous follow-up of the registration process, we received feedback that it went well, in a fast and efficient manner, based on the positive and reassuring statements of students and parents, which was received directly and through social media", added Prof Saad.

"The university through the Deanship of Admission and Registration has developed a robust plan for the flow of registration steps and procedures in a way that supports and maintains and reflects a good impression of the university locally, regionally and globally, adding that the university has drawn up plans And the programs that help and support this aspect.

Finally, the Vice Chancellor expressed his great thanks and gratitude to everyone who participated and contributed to the success of the registration process in the various sites and concluded his statement commenting that "We always encouraged embracing team spirit, among the university’s employees since we took over the university administration, which brings good results without a doubt".

Deputy Vice Chancellor Inspects the Progress of the Registration Process for New Students in its Fourth and Final Week

Prof Mahdi Abbas Shakak, Deputy Vice Chancellor of the university, inspected the progress of new students' registration, accompanied by Dr. Maha Fadul, Dean of the Deanship of Student Affairs, Mr. Galal Abdalrahman Mohammed Hammad, Dean of Deanship of Admission and Registration, Mr. Suleiman Ahmed Babiker, Deputy Dean of Student Affairs, and Dr. Huda Osman Abdallah, Head of Public Relations and Media.

The group made a tour inspecting the flow of the registration process for new students in its fourth and final week. The two designated centers for registration are the western (main) campus and the College of Technology.

After the tour, Prof Shakak confirmed the feeling of relief sensed from parents due to the smooth flow of registration procedures, which went in a good and convincing manner.

In confirmation of the above, Ms. Hibatallah Hassan, an accepted student at the College of Education, the Department of Preschool Education, and her father, expressed their satisfaction with registration process.

Another accepted student, Ms. Ruba Badr Aldin Mohammad, admitted to the College of Business Studies, Department of Business Administration, added that the registration process took place in record time, in quick harmony and in a perfect manner, as she put it, thanking the university for arrangement, organization and readiness to receive its new students.

Another accepted student, Ali Mohammad Abdel Daim, expressed his happiness and gratitude as his prayers were answered and got admitted into Sudan University. He expressed his deep satisfaction as his desires were fulfilled and got accepted into architecture engineering.

Professional Skills Course in Food Processing for Female Workers

Prof Abbas Mahdi Shakak, Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University, praised the female staff at the university for the pioneering and societal role they offer, which deserves honoring and gratitude. This came when addressing the activities of the graduation ceremony of the

Professional Skills in Food Processing course

which was organized by the Institute for Family and Community Development in cooperation with the Human Resources department for 50 female trainees from the university staff. The ceremony included Dr. Fatima Omer Nabag, dean of the Institute for Family and Community Development, Prof Yasser Mukhtar, head of the Human Resources Department, Dr. Nagwa Abdullatif, Head of the Training Department at the Institute, the course instructors and a group of attendees.

Prof Shakak stressed that the university is doing its best to support the well-being of female staff. He stated that females represent 60% of the total university community and they must be provided with different specific skills to benefit from the resources available in the surrounding environment, especially since Sudan has abundant goodness. He also expressed his happiness for smart partnerships through collaboration among the various departments at the university. He mentioned that the situation in the past was miserable and did not give women their rights, therefore, this important issue should be paid attention to.

Dr. Fatima Omar Nabag pointed out that the training course included many aspects, most notably safety, professional skills, ethics, general appearance and the importance of preserving time, and she showed that food manufacturing represents an economic, social and nutritional pillar with multiple benefits for all sectors, especially female workers who need such projects to help them to face the difficulties of life and living conditions that the country is going through.

Dr. Fatima also stated that course instructors have participated from the Faculty of Agricultural Studies and joined the team spirit to spread their expertise and important skills for food production and processing, which we hope will become one of the largest projects in the future.

Prof Yasser Mukhtar explained that the university administration pays great attention to the workers' segment and the university is aware of their growing role towards the institution. He stated that the university aim to protect and empower all workers through training and skills development to enable them to face daily life struggle. Prof Mukhtar also assured that they target internal and external funding resources for training programs.

Dr. Najwa Abdullatif stressed on the completion of the theoretical side besides practical training. She stated that the workers have been trained in productive and behavioral skills that will benefit them in various fields and different circumstances. She explained that food products do not contain any preservatives, most notably (pickles, various types of sauces, jams of all kinds, juices, drying vegetables). Dr. Najwa promised continuity of training courses for all workers, remembering that they have a plan to finance and invest these projects through companies and banks, inviting everyone to visit the accompanying exhibition that reflects the products of the studies.

In conclusion, certificates were distributed to the students amid the joy and interaction of all attendees.
