College of Computer Science Honors Outstanding Students and Welcomes New students

The College of Computer Science and Information Technology (CCSIT) held a celebration on welcome of new students and in honor of outstanding students who achieved outstanding grades in advanced classes. The celebration was held under the auspices of Prof. Awad Saad Hassan, vice chancellor of the University. The event was honored by Prof. ‪Mahdi Abbas Saad Shakak, deputy vice chancellor of the University and the presence of Dr. Wafaa Faisal Mukhtar, Dean of the college of Computer Science and Information Technology, and Dr. Maha Fadl, Dean of Students Affairs, in addition to a number of faculty professors. Also, with the participation of the "Abqar" group specialized in the field of training and capacity development, and a group of students and their families.

Prof Shakak welcomed new students, wishing them scientific achievement and success at the Citadel of Science and Knowledge, which bears the name of the dear homeland. He said, “Celebrating outstanding students is a good year that encourages diligence, dedication, and scientific achievements in various fields and our students are distinguished and represent a source of pride and honor for the university in all forums inside and outside Sudan”.

Prof Shakak also called for reformulating concepts and ideas to adapt to the new era and its requirements, and noted the need to promote the principle of cooperation and scientific-technological exchange to meet the needs of the present and the future.

Finally, His Excellency stated that the College of Computer Science transports them to the worlds of development and technology, based on the college experiences and intellectual and scientific capabilities that have made them in permanent connection and continuous communication, and therefore, keeping up with the outside world. He also directed to support and care for outstanding students, provide aids and factors of excellence and distinction for all students, remove all obstacles that hinder their scientific progress, and create the appropriate environment and climate for academic achievement. He asked all students to adhere to the values ​​of positive change and set science as a primary goal. It is impossible, and with a strong will, a person can achieve what he aims for.

Dr. Wafaa Faisal Mukhtar expressed her happiness with the excellence of the students and graduates of the College of Computer Science and said, “We welcome the new students and we congratulate our students for their excellence. The celebration aims to encourage all students to develop their abilities by academic achievement and to launch into the horizons of success and keeping pace.”

She also noted that the college annually honors the students with the highest academic standing among their graduating class by providing financial and moral awards, however, with the top student of the college being exempted from tuition fees completely. She also revealed that there are 198 outstanding students for this year.

"Honoring and motivation represents a strong motive for excellence, exclusivity and excellence and we do our best in the college to harness all possibilities for giving.", she added.

"Furthermore, Dr. Wafa pointed out the importance of intensifying teaching activities and training courses and the need to develop and renew curricula in a way that is compatible with keeping pace and modernization in international universities. She also called the students to put efforts into lessons, assignments, lectures and further information, scientific application and training.

It is worth mentioning that the program included an introductory lecture on the regulations and academic study system at the college of Computer Science presented by Azhari Fadl Alsaid Mohammad, a staff member of the college, poetic performance and student innovations. The outstanding students were honored with certificates of appreciation and financial awards.
