Vice Chancellor of the University Receives the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Saudi International Cooperation and the Accompanying Delegation

Prof. Awad Saad Hassan, vice chancellor of the university, received at his office in the main campus, His Excellency Prof. Saleh Ibrahim Alqasoumi, the undersecretary of the International Cooperation Office at the Ministry of Education, accompanied by His Excellency Mohammad Alghamdi, Deputy Ambassador of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Khartoum, His Excellency Mr. Abdullah bin Qassim Al-Hashimi, the cultural attaché of the embassy, and a number of embassy representatives.

From the university side, the meeting included Prof. ‪Mahdi Abbas Saad Shakak, Deputy Vice Chancellor of the university, Dr. Elfatih Ahmed Hassan, the University Principal, and a number of deans of faculties and directors of adminstration offices.

Prof. Awad Saad welcomed the visiting delegation, stating that today we receive dear guests at the university who came from a dear place to our hearts on a distinguished and historic visit. He stressed that Sudan’s sisterly relationship with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is one of brotherhood, blood, friendship and religion and is unique in that it goes far in building the human being.

Professor Awad Saad added that they aspire to more cooperation in the areas of exchanging experiences and knowledge and transferring Saudi experience and advanced technology to the University of Sudan, especially in light of Sudan’s openness to the world after the glorious December revolution, which provided great opportunities. Smart, and from here came the thought of finding relations with Saudi universities, which have become the world's leading, which makes us proud of the success of our brothers and sisters.

His Excellency Prof. Saleh Ibrahim Alqasoumi

While His Excellency Prof. Saleh Ibrahim Alqasoumi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for International Cooperation in the Kingdom, began his speech with verses of poetry that glorify the relationship between the two countries and embody the strong bonds that the Saudi people have for Sudan and its people, and spoke on behalf of the accompanying delegation expressing their deep appreciation for the warm hospitality and good reception.

He indicated that real academic cooperation, whose impact is felt by nations, has become today an urgent need more than ever to help overcome the Covid19 pandemic and its human, social and economic consequences, stressing that such need will continue beyond the pandemic, adding that rebuilding the academic cooperation system begins with academic programs and research of mutual interest through partnerships and bilateral relationship between universities in the two countries bringing mutual benefit.

His Excellency the Undersecretary, also explained that Saudi universities are working with their partners in the Arab region and abroad to invest in strengths and resources with each other to build the integration required to achieve common prosperity in their countries, especially in the fields of education, communications and information technology, the medical sector and pharmaceutical industries, in cooperation with the private sector.

"Let's help each other after the Covid19 crisis", His Excellency added declaring the readiness of Saudi universities through the Ministry of Education to build a platform that becomes a launching center for regional and international efforts to respond to future challenges, expressing his hope that the two sides will be able to write a new chapter for academic cooperation that carries with it new partnerships and horizons for the academic community in The two brotherly countries.

Furthermore, His Excellency announced the visit of a number of Saudi universities to Sudanese universities, with the University of Sudan in the forefront, in addition to holding scientific days for Saudi universities on the campuses of Sudanese universities.

Delegation Visits and Program

The delegation visited the Southern campus, which contains the Colleges of Engineering, and Dr. Eltahir Abualgassim Mohamed Elshiekh, Dean of the College of Engineering, gave a comprehensive presentation of the College and answered all questions and inquiries. The delegation toured a number of workshops and laboratories, expressing their admiration.

The delegation also paid a visit to the Medical Colleges Campus, which includes the Colleges of Medicine, Pharmacy and Dentistry, and a detailed presentation on the three colleges was given by Dr. Abubaker Suliman Elgorashi Ali, Dean of the College of Pharmacy. The delegation toured the study halls, laboratories, the morgue and the library, and expressed thier satisfaction with the campus environment and the modern educational aids from laboratories and others.

Dr. Mariam Abbas Ibrahim Abdelghafour, Director of External Relations, gave a detailed presentation on the University, its stages of development, its inclusion of 25 colleges, its inclusion of 72000 students at various levels of undergraduate studies and 11000 of graduate students. The presentation also included the outreach activities of the university at all levels, locally, regionally, and globally, and details of the university excellence and local leadership, especially in the latest international rankings of universities and the university global advancement.

Prof. Awad Saad presented souvenirs to His Excellency the Undersecretary and the accompanying delegation from the College of Fine and Applied Arts. The delegation's visit was accompanied by an exhibition reflecting the products of a number of colleges where the students of the College of Music and Drama participated as well.
