College of Agricultural Studies | Dean Meets with a Delegation of Turkish Cooperation Agency (TIKA)

Dr. Abbas Al-Sheikh Rahma, Dean of the College of Agricultural Studies at Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST), received a delegation from the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) office, which was presented by Ms. Fulya Aslan, Director of the Agency’s Office in Sudan, in the presence of a number of faculty professors and representatives of the Agency at Shambat Campus.

Dr. Rahma expressed his happiness with the visit. "The agency is interested in supporting development and economic projects, especially the industrial, agricultural and animal sectors," he said. He indicated that the agency has a good reputation in promoting social services in friend countries, and explained that the visit dealt with ways of many aspects of joint cooperation, especially in the field of projects Research and local, regional and global food security.

Ms. Fulya Aslan assured the importance and support of projects that contribute to developing and increasing the productivity of food crops and incubators for food processing of vegetables and fruits, as well as raising the added value of abundant crops such as mango, potatoes, tomatoes and others. She also referred to the allocation of projects that would improve the animal and poultry production sector in Sudan .

It is worth mentioning that it was agreed to continue communication and meetings and exchange experiences and capabilities between the two sides in the field of agricultural production. They believed that the benefit would accrue to the development and economy of the two countries.

The Prophet’s Hijrah Between Yesterday and Today | A Lecture by Dean of IISR

The Institute of Islamic Research at Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST) organized a scientific lecture on "the Prophet’s Hijrah between yesterday and today" in the Martyrs’ Hall at the university's main campus. It was presented by Dr. Al-Wasila Al-Sir Karrar, Dean of the Institute.

Through the lecture, Dr. Al-Wasila dealt with the most important reasons that called for Hijrah from Mecca to Medina, including the persecution of Muslims by Quraysh, to spread the Islamic call outside Mecca and other reasons. Reviewing those stages that the da’wah went through, drawing inspiration from the morals and lessons so that we can contribute to spreading the Islamic da’wah and returning Muslims to their religion for the sake of the sovereignty of Islam and the advancement of Muslims, especially since the strategic objectives of Hijrah were to search for supporters and spread Islam.

At the conclusion of his lecture, Dr. Al-Wasila called everyone to look at the Qur’anic verses to improve thought and revolutionize the mind and motivate it in order to discover new horizons for understanding Islam and rationalizing religiosity for the effectiveness of giving and working towards achieving the civilizational existence of the Islamic nation. The lecture was accompanied by religious chants and prophetic poems.

Sudan Center for Self-Employment at SUST Meets with the Federal Graduate Employment Authority

The Sudan Center for Self-Employment and Entrepreneurship at Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST) held a reflective meeting with the Federal Graduate Employment Authority in order to activate previous protocols of understanding with the university on entrepreneurship projects.

This was in the presence of Dr. Mustafa Al-Jak, Director of Sudan Center for Self-Employment and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Muzir Babiker, Director of the Entrepreneurship Department at the university, Dr. Sharaf El-Din Al-Awad, Executive Director of Khartoum State, Ms. Sawsan Al-Shafei, Federal Projects Director, Mr. Ahmed Khaled Mohamed, Director of the Federal Training Center, and rs. Ibtihal Mohamed Abdullah, Director of Partnerships and foreign relations.

Dr. Mustafa Al-Jack expressed his happiness at the meeting and said, “The smart partnership with the Agency aims to develop joint work and coordination within the framework of practical application, cooperation in the field of training, establishing existing projects for implementation related to graduate employment issues, adopting production agreements, and activating protocols to support and develop youth and graduate entrepreneurship projects.” He also stressed the university administration's interest in presenting and implementing such projects in the near future.

Dr. Sharaf El-Din Al-Awad valued the great roles played by the university in upgrading, raising capabilities, developing scientific programs and qualifying cadres.

“We always work with various sectors of society, especially universities and scientific and research centers to develop visions and ideas about production concepts and youth projects and benefit from national development resources to create financial security and raise value of additional income", he added.

Sharaf Al-Din also revealed a memorandum of understanding that will be signed with the university in the field of training and exploiting the university's capabilities in providing job opportunities for youth and entrepreneurship.

Female Students of Al-Manar Private Secondary Schools Visit SUST

Within the framework of local outreach and communication with educational and academic institutions, Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST) received a visit from Al-Manar Female Private Secondary School, led by Ms Amani Omar Idris, the school director, and Mohamed Hammad, the school’s vice-dean, accompanied by a group of 211 female students, teachers and supervisors. The visit aims to stand and get acquainted with the departments and colleges of SUST and its great knowledge legacy.

The visitors were received by Prof. Mohamed Daoud, Dean of the Faculty of Languages, and Dr. Belqis Abdulaziz, Dean of the Faculty of Science, who gave a full explanation of all the faculties and sites of the many specializations at the university. They also introduced the university’s other components, such as institutes, scientific and research centers, and applied laboratories equipped with the latest capabilities and equipment, as well as the environment, study system and programs. This was accompanied by an introductory tour inside the Western Campus, with which the students interacted with questions and expressed their desire to excel and enroll in the university in the near future.

CCSIT Celebrates New Students and Honors Outstanding Students

Under the slogan “With science and culture, we build Sudan” and under the generous sponsorship of the vice chancellor of Sudan University of Science and Technology and under the supervision of SOCOVA, the College of Computer Science and Information Technology (CCSIT) organized a ceremony to welcome new students for the academic year 2021-2022 and to honor the outstanding students for the academic year 2019-2020.

The event was attended by Dr. Afaf Madani Mohamed, Deputy Dean of CCSIT, heads of CCSIT departments, representatives from the Deanship of Student Affairs, and a group of students and graduates of the college and their families.

Dr. Afaf Madani expressed her happiness with the celebration and said: “Students are the torches of science, the unit of progress and positive change, and the builders of a bright future for our beloved Sudan.” She emphasized that the College of Computer Science will continue to provide the community and the labor market with qualified and distinguished cadres.

Furthermore, she explained that the college, along with experts and scholars, has a long legacy and is based on a great scientific, academic and knowledge history. She said, "Our programs and scientific and academic research are advanced and modern. We all seek development, progress and prosperity for the University". Finally, she strongly encouraged the students to strive, excel and persevere.

Mohamed Mustafa, the representative of the newly admitted students, thanked the university administration for their warm welcome, continuous care and interest in the new students. He said, "Our ambition since childhood is to be within the system of uniqueness, tradition and knowledge of the University of Sudan because of its great sales in modern and advanced sciences".

It is worth noting that orientation lectures were given to students about the academic system, the credit hours system, and exams, given by Dr. Azhari Fadl Al-Sayed. Dr. Intisar Ibrahim Ahmed gave an explanation of the college departments and curricula. Certificates of appreciation and financial prizes were distributed to the outstanding students.

The Deanship of Student Affairs Celebrates the International Day Against Drug Abuse

Within the framework of the World Anti-Drug Day and in the midst of a large and crowded presence of students from Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST) and within the awareness programs on drug control issues, the Deanship of Student Affairs at the university organized an awareness day on the dangers of drugs under the slogan "No to Drugs".

The event was attended by Dr. Abd Al-Salam Kamel Abd Al-Salam, Dean of Student Affairs, Major General Mohamed Omar Mubarak, Director of Anti-Narcotics in Khartoum State, Dr. Amira Ali Khairy, Deputy Dean of Student Affairs, a large number of deans of faculties, student supervisors in the various campuses of the university, and a group of students.

Dr. Abd Al-Salam Kamel expressed his happiness for the awareness-raising day on the dangers of drugs and indicated that the Deanship of Student Affairs used to organize it annually within the national and international programs to combat drugs.

He said, "Our responsibility is to educate students about all the dangers they face and threaten their lives and future, and the Deanship's regulations are enough to protect all students."

He noted that the Deanship of Students' Affairs is the big house and the second family that works to provide service and protection in various fields, and His Excellency indicated that the danger of drugs has come to overwhelm all families, which necessitates combating it, limiting its growth and curbing it through community awareness and combating it through cultural and educational programs and lectures with the participation of all sectors of society, noting that this has positive results and a meaningful, effective and effective return, he said, "Our interest in the student's life and safety is at the core of the work of the Deanship of Students."

Major General Mohamed Omar Mubarak stressed that the drug phenomenon in society is one of the biggest problems facing humanity. He mentioned that they describe it as a scourge that destroys human societies, especially youth and students, the builders of the future, explaining that fighting drugs requires great effort, tight plans and awareness programs to confront and defeat its danger.

He said, "Sudan's wide and open borders facilitate the entry and growth of drugs in society. We must all unite to fight it, and our police forces are well-qualified and trained to combat drugs as a crime against humanity and a harmful and hateful act."

He also reviewed the various types of drugs, including natural ones such as plants, weeds, semi-natural and factory as well as electronic digital, noting the fight against the causes that help the spread of drugs, and called for avoiding bad friends and the need to follow up on families, not build them and monitor their behavior, and the importance of finding job opportunities for young people and uprooting the unemployment phenomenon.

It is worth mentioning that the carnival was interspersed with traditional paragraphs, awareness lectures, plays about drugs and their negative impact on health, lyrical breaks, an accompanying exhibition and poetry participation that won the approval and satisfaction of all attendees.

An Introductory Lecture About Opportunities to Study in France

In the midst of a qualitative and quantitative presence, the Deanship of Scientific Research at the Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST) hosted Mr. Awad Omar, Director of  Campus France office of the French Embassy in Sudan, in an introductory lecture on how to obtain study opportunities in France in the fields of bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate, in addition to small courses in other fields.

Mr. Omar gave the attendees an informative demonstration about the institutions of higher education in France and their types and about the ways of granting national certificates in the fields of bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees, their time periods, financial costs, live expenses and accommodation, and the role of Campus’s office in facilitating and completing procedures. He also explained how to obtain grants from the state of France, the European Union and others.

He also explained the method of searching through the Internet to obtain the appropriate field and application dates for French universities. At the end of the lecture, Mr. Omar welcomed those who wanted to join French higher education institutions, announcing the opening of the center's door to receive all those wishing to study in France and to provide all the appropriate facilities to obtain study opportunities in France.

Prof. Eisa Bashier Mohamed Eltayeb, vice chancellor of Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST), accompanied by Prof. Abdelazim Suleiman Al-Mahal, deputy vice chancellor of SUST, and Dr. Mariam Abbas, Director of External Relations, visited the Turkish Coordination and Cooperation Agency (TIKA) to welcome the new coordinator of the Khartoum office, Ms. Fulya Aslan, in the presence of Eng. Mohamed Gadallah, Assistant Director-General of the Office (TIKA) in Sudan.

In the meeting, Prof Eisa Bashier reviewed a set of projects proposed by the university for the purpose of developing the community and the university environment, which can be financed by TIKA. 

Ms. Folia Aslan, the office coordinator in Khartoum, expressed her happiness at the visit and her great desire to cooperate with the university, according to what she knows about her long history and good reputation.
