Sudan University of Science and Technology in Türkiye: New Partnerships in Education, Energy, and Artificial Intelligence

Prof. Dr. Eisa Bashier Eltayeb, Vice Chancellor of Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST), Mr. Osama Mahjoub Hassan Dirar, Consul General of the Republic of the Sudan in Istanbul, prof. Hasabo Abdelbagi and Dr. Ramadan, they made a visit to İstanbul Technical University (ITU). Professor Bashier and his delegation met with professor Dr. Hassan rector of ITU, four dean's colleges and delegation. The meeting discussed new collaborative projects and cooperation areas that will further strengthen the partnership between the two institutions.

The deligates explored ways to transform the cooperation agreement signed last year into joint research and development projects, academic mobility initiatives, and sustainable collaborations.

Also, they discussed potential areas for collaboration, including mining, textile and petroleum technologies, as well as energy, materials science, water and environmental sciences, artificial intelligence, electronics and computer science, and aerospace. Through collaborative efforts in these fields, deligates aim to translate scientific knowledge into societal benefit while further strengthening the academic partnership between the two universities.

In line with internationalization vision, both parties believe that international partnerships should go beyond signed agreements. By fostering joint research, academic mobility, and collaborative projects, they are committed to building a lasting and sustainable culture of working together. The parties continue to strengthen their international collaborations through philosophy of co-learning, co-development, and co-achievement, transforming science and technology into long-term partnerships that create shared value across countries.

Initiative of United for the Rehabilitation of the College of Petroleum and Mining| Honored by the Minister of Higher Education

SPE is always present and ready to lend a helping hand in everything related to the College of Petroleum and Mining.

It continuously strives to develop and support student initiatives and actively participate in their growth and in the advancement of the university.

The SPE SUST Student Chapter had a strong presence during the conclusion of the first phase and the launch of the second phase of the initiative:

The event was honored by the presence of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Ahmed Mudawi Musa, President of Sudan University, Prof. Issa Bashir Mohammed, Vice President, Prof. Abdul Azim Al-Mahal, President of Al-Geneina University, Prof. Al-Tayeb Ali Ahmed, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Abdul Aziz, and Dr. Niazi, representing the Faculty of Architecture and Planning.

Also in attendance was Mohamed Al-Amin, SPE representative and Programs Manager, who has been involved since the very beginning of the initiative, reaffirming SPE’s commitment to supporting student and community initiatives and contributing to the development of the college and the university. This initiative was supported and closely supervised by the Dean, Dr. Ahmed Abdul Aziz.

During the visit, Eng. Mahmoud Al-Tijani Saeed – the founder of the initiative – delivered a speech outlining the objectives of the first phase and the achievements made in terms of cleaning and initial rehabilitation. He also announced the start of the second phase, which focuses on completing reconstruction and creating a well-prepared academic environment.

The participation of the SPE SUST Student Chapter in this historic event reflects its mission to build students’ capacities, instill leadership values, and promote social responsibility, confirming that students of the College of Petroleum and Mining are always at the forefront in supporting the university and serving the nation.

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research visits Sudan University of Science and Technology

Prof. Ahmed Mudawi Musa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and his accompanying delegation inspected today the headquarters of the Sudan University of Science and Technology in Al-Muqrin, where he was welcomed by Prof. Eisa Bashier Mohamed, Vice Chancellor of the University, his deputy Prof. Abdelazim Suleiman Al-Mehl, a number of deans of faculties and a number of university employees.

The Minister's tour included a number of halls, laboratories and workshops, during which he inspected the extent of the damage. Following the tour, H.E. held a meeting with the university staff, which was opened by Prof. Eisa Bashier Mohammed, explaining the extent of the damage that affected the various university complexes.

For his part, Prof. Ahmed Mudawi Musa stressed on the importance of employing technology, pointing out that the Sudan University is a citadel of technology. He also emphasized the need to reconstruct higher education institutions, stressing his commitment to lead efforts and work with everyone in the reconstruction and rehabilitation process.

Sudan University of Science and Technology signs an agreement with the Roads, Bridges and Drainage Authority, Ministry of Infrastructure and Transportation, Khartoum State. Believing in the necessity of strengthening scientific cooperation and realizing the need to establish means of development and joint cooperation in services and activities, with aims of:

Resuming the Activties of the Secretariat of Scientific Affairs in Port Sudan

With reference and in addition to the announcement issued on November 30, 2023, the Secretariat of Scientific Affairs at Sudan University of Science and Technology announces the resumption of its activities, including issuing and authenticating the following certificates in Port Sudan and soon abroad

Registration certificate, graduation statement, to whom it may concern, certificate of completion and certificate of details (for bachelor’s and diploma)

Senate Meeting No. 2-2023: SUST Approves a Number of 1998 Graduates

Prof. Eisa Bashier Mohamad, the vice chancellor of Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST), chaired the Senate meeting No. (2/2023 - 141) on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 .

It should be noted that the total number of graduates is 1995, consisting of 1888 with bachelor’s degrees, 31 with doctorate degrees, 71 master’s degrees, and 5 postgraduate diplomas.

Speech by the Chairman, Prof. Eisa Bashier Mohamad

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, and may blessings and peace be upon the most honorable of all God’s creation

Ladies and gentlemen, distinguished colleagues, distinguished members of the Senate Council of SUST, may Allah’s peace, mercy, and blessings be upon you.

We begin our meeting in exceptional circumstances, during a war that is seen for the first time by all generations in the modern history of Sudan. It has affected everything and the people of Sudan does not see a clear prospect of its end.

We ask Allah, the Almighty, to bless our country with security, safety and stability, protect it from all evil, and keep it united. May He protect and care for you and your honorable families during your stay and travel and may He have mercy on all our university members who passed away. We ask Allah to have a mercy on them and accept them in the highest of heavens and to hasten the return of the missing and gather all the families who were displaced, seeking refuge or were displaced, and to return them to their homes safe and sound. We also ask Allah the Almighty to compensate you, the university and its employees, and to compensate Sudan for all the material and moral losses that befell everyone.

Since this war broke out in mid-April 2023, the university administration has formed a risk management cell and has been vigilant following developments in the public arena and making decisions for the benefit of the university and its employees through specialized technical committees supported by the colleges councils and the deans’ council.

The first of which is the Financial and Administrative Committee, which discussed and approved the disbursement of 50% of the salary to all employees and from the university’s revenues when the state’s salaries were delayed and the general situation was difficult. We extend our appreciation and gratitude to them for what they have given to the university under these circumstances, and this is what this institution has pledged to all its employees.

The university has also formed a committee to count the losses, which turned out to be many times greater than what we witnessed in the floods disaster of 1988. The committee has begun its work despite the current circumstances.

Praise be to Allah and his support, in last November, things began to come to life, and most of the university’s colleges announced the resumption of academic activities and study through their councils after a referendum for students and academic staff, taking into account the exceptional circumstances that the country is going through and the interest of the students and alleviating the burden on their dear families. The students and their families remained in constant contact with their colleges and all of this was out of fear for their future.

Implementation of the announced teaching activities will be done through e-learning, hosting in similar universities and colleges, and transferring credit hours internally according to the regulations.

This was aided by the evacuation of the university’s servers from the computer center in the Al-Muqran area in Khartoum, and it included great sacrifices from the university principal and Mr. Abdel Hannan, and then the servers were transferred and hosted in the data-center of the Sudanese Telecommunications Company in Port Sudan, which is safe, has high technical specifications.

We extend our appreciation and gratitude to the Sudanese Telecommunications Company, the Technical Services Group, the Networks Department and other departments at the Computer Center and all those who made this effort, led by the SUST’s Vice Chancellor Advisor for Technology.

All members of this council know that the university’s systems and sub-services have returned to work. The results system has made it possible to issue and authenticate certificates through the Office of Scientific Affairs.

Work began in Wad Medani, but it did not last long, due to recent events. We extend our appreciation and gratitude to the University of Gezira, and thanks in advance to the Red Sea University, which provided a headquarters in Port Sudan, which is currently being moved to.

Also, the official university website, the official emails of the university, the library system, the digital repository, and the e-learning platform all work efficiently. Many thanks to all the committees that have accomplished and are still working diligently and actively.

All university members are required to make every effort to overcome these exceptional circumstances and compensate the students and the nation for the lost periods.

At this opportunity, allow me to direct the institutes, specialized centers, and university colleges to look into how to prepare and manage their programs, as there are many gaps that require participation with society and contribution to their restoration and return to the normal state that society is satisfied with in the coming periods.

We would like to inform your esteemed council that the general budget for the year 2024 has been submitted to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the university’s internal budget is almost ready.

Finally, we thank the esteemed Senate Council for making this important session a success, and thanks o the Central Examinations and Scientific Affairs Committees and to the college councils that continued to work despite the circumstances surrounding them. Today, by approving these results, it will bring joy and pleasure to the hearts of the families of these graduates.

Allow me to consider this session as the first to approve the graduates’ results, followed by a second session to complete the remaining results. Note that part of these results were ready and the other part was under preparation since the outbreak of this war in April, which means that they were delayed for nine months.

All of this is destined, and we ask Allah to remove this cloud and clear it up, and to give Sudan a choice of its sons to improve the condition of the people and the country.

May you live long and may Sudan remain in God’s care and protection
