College of Computer Science and Information Technology Welcomes its New Students

The College of Computer Science and Information Technology at Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST) in the Western Campus celebrated the reception of its new students for the academic year 2022-2023.

The event was attended by Prof. Abdelazim Suleiman Al-Mahal, Deputy Vice Chancellor of the university, Dr. Mohamad Awad, Deputy Principal, Dr. Wafa Faisal Mukhtar, Dean of the College of Computer Science and Information Technology, and Prof. Izzeldin Mohamed Osman Elamin, the spiritual father of the college, the academic advisor to the vice chancellor of the University, Dr. Yahya Abdallah, an expert in the field of computer, former dean of the College of Computer Science, and Dr. Abd El-Salam Kamel, Dean of students affairs and a number of heads of departments in the college among a large crowd of students.

Professor Izzeldin Mohamed Osman Elamin congratulated the newly accepted students on their affiliation with SUST in the field of computer Science, as it is considered the profession of the future. He explained the continuous and rapid development of computer science fields, which requires the students to keep up with updates in the field, and he urged them to boost their self-confidence and contribute In the development of various systems with correct understanding and perfect implementation, and not to neglect the auxiliary materials and proficiency in the Arabic and English languages.

Dr. Wafa Faisal Mukhtar also welcomed the new students to SUST, the pioneer of e-learning in Sudan, as an integral part of the educational process, especially at this stage in which self-capabilities are built and refined. She also hoped that the students would grow to become the best support for their families and the university, armed with useful knowledge, especially that they will be receiving knowledge at the hands of a bright constellation of the most distinguished professors.

Dr. Yahya Abdullah gave an introductory overview of the establishment and development of the college and its five majors, which have been supplying all parts of the country with engineers, programmers and computer operators to fill the shortage in these areas. Referring to the great shift in the college after undergoing an evaluation experience from the Ministry of Higher Education through assessors from outside the country, so that the college carries out its goals of preparing qualified students, keeping pace with global development in computer courses, and helping students to choose departments.

Mr. Abdallah Mohamad, Head of the Cultural Activities Department at the Deanship of Student Affairs, said that the Deanship represents the family incubator within the university campus, so it plays the role of care and supervision through the services it provides. He added that the deanship includes five departments, including the Department of Social Welfare, the Department of Cultural Activities, which is concerned with extra-curricular activity, sponsoring and supporting associations and voluntary organizations, and the Department of Sports Activities, which is concerned with departmental leagues and payment leagues, and external participation for outstanding students in some fields and refining their talents. He encouraged the students pay attention to achievement and adhere to the students' code of conduct.
