SUST Signs an MoU with UCSI University

Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST) signed a memorandum of understanding with the University of UCSI Malaysia, in the presence of His Excellency Mohamad Razdan Jamil, Ambassador of Malaysia in Sudan, and his accompanying delegation.

Prof. Eisa Bashier Mohamed, Vice Chancellor of the University, signed on behalf of SUST and Prof. Datuk Ir. Ts. Dr. Siti Hamisah Binti Tapsir, Vice Chancellor of UCSI University, signed on behalf of UCSI. From the University's side, the signing ceremony included Dr. Awadallah Tayfour Ali, Principal of the University, Dr. Mohamed Awad Elshaikh, Deputy Principal of the University, Prof Caroline Edward Ayad, Secretary of Scientific Affairs, and Dr. Huda Osman, Director of Public Relations and Media, and Dr. Mariam Abbas, Director of External Relations.

In a statement following the signing ceremony, Prof. Bashier explained that the agreement aims at joint exchange between the two universities in applied and theoretical fields in the various sciences, adding that there is great similarities in the programs of both SUST and UCSI University at the level of undergraduate and graduate studies.

Also, Prof. Bashier revealed that there is great compatibility in the undergraduate and graduate programs of SUST and UCSI. He also stated that it was agreed through the MoU to implement joint research between the two universities, specially that SUST has many researchers and the Malaysian side has the possibility of funding joint research.

Furthermore, Prof. Bashier revealed that the terms of the agreement included exchange of faculty members and the exchange of students. He added that one of the most important things that was agreed upon was to activate training, explaining that the Malaysian embassy had noticed in recent times the increasing demand for training in Malaysia by the Sudanese and that the transfer of modern technologies to SUST due to the privileges it has in this field, contributes to the localization of training in various fields. He added, "We seek to speed up implementation of the terms of the agreement within two weeks for the benefit of both countries."

His Excellency Mohamad Razdan Jamil, Ambassador of Malaysia in Sudan, expressed their readiness at the embassy to facilitate communication procedures, organize and implement the terms of the MoU.

Prof. Datuk Ir. Ts. Dr. Siti Hamisah Binti Tapsir, Vice Chancellor of UCSI University, gave a presentation about UCSI, the academic programs and various achievements of the university.

In conclusion, Prof. Bashier, affirmed his keenness and interest in bringing the provisions of the memorandum to reality in the near future, thanking the family of the Malaysian embassy and UCSI University for their communication with the university.

A presentation was made by Dr. Mariam Abbas, Director of External Relations, demonstrating SUST's different faculties and their presence in ten campus locations in the state of Khartoum, as well as the university's progress and development.
