Sudan University of Science and Technology Participates in the 16th Khartoum International Book Fair

Sudan University of Science and Technology participated in the 16th Khartoum International Book Fair, which opened on Friday the 22nd of October. The university participated with (77) scientific books authored by university professors, which were subject to scrutiny, review and arbitration by the university’s authoring and publishing committee, in addition to 10 scientific journals covering the humanities, agriculture, veterinary, engineering and education.

In a press statement during the opening of the Khartoum International Book Fair today, Prof. Mahdi Abbas Saad Shakak, the deputy Vice Chancellor of the University, stressed the interest in scientific books, and the university recently achieved the first rank among Sudanese universities in Webometrics TRANSPARENT RANKING for Institutional Repositories by Google Scholar (August 2021).

Prof. Shakak pointed out that the successive technological development led to the easy circulation of information, but writing, publishing and developing university research requires books to be the basic reference, indicating the university's interest in master's and doctoral research and scientific patents, which were included in career promotion.

In the same context, Dr. Najat Ahmed Mohamed, Dean of Libraries Affairs at the University, confirmed that the university used to participate in the exhibition in its previous sessions, with books published with a scientific methodology by the Authoring and Publishing Committee, helping students by providing scientific material supporting academic courses. She also explained that the published Books and magazines cover various scientific disciplines.
