Sudan University of Science and Technology ranked first on Sudanese universities in Webometrics classification of international universities and institutes for July 2021. This classification is an important international classification of universities and depends on three criteria, which are "impact", "openness" and "excellence".

The university also ranked first in Webometrics TRANSPARENT RANKING of Top Universities by Citations in Top Google Scholar profiles.

In addition to all of the above, Sudan University of Science and Technology was distinguished in this classification as the only Sudanese university to feature among the top 100 among the Arab world and Africa, where it ranked 96th in the Arab world and ranked 82nd in Africa.
