Vice Chancellor Meets the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Khartoum

Prof Awad Saad Hassan, vice chancellor of the university, held a meeting with Ali bin Hassan Jaafar, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Khartoum, accompanied by Dr. Bandar Al-Harkan, the cultural attaché at the embassy.


The meeting include the deputy vice chancellor of the university, the principal of the university, the Secretary of Academic Affairs, and a number of deans representing various colleges.

Vice Chancellor Meets the Chinese Ambassador in Khartoum

Prof Awad Saad Hassan, vice chancellor of the university, met with Chinese ambassador in Khartoum. The meeting included the deputy vice chancellor, the university principal, and a number of college deans. Prof Awad praised the strong relations between Sudan and China, which are distinguished in educational, health and agricultural fields, expressing his hope for strengthening cooperation between Sudan University and Chinese universities in the university's various specializations, especially agricultural and oil fields, by establishing joint research, exchanging professors and students, and in the technological aspect in order to push relations forward Especially in light of the current change that Sudan is experiencing, which was brought about by the youth.


His Excellency, the Chinese Ambassador, commented on the depth of the deeply rooted Sudanese-Chinese relations, especially in the economic and educational fields, praising Sudan University and the good reputation it enjoys and being the largest in Sudan.

 He also expressed his readiness for cooperation between Sudan University of Science and Technology and Chinese universities, especially in the field of agriculture, petroleum, graduate studies and scientific research.


Prof Awad explained his gratitude to His Excellency, the Ambassador, for their attendance and suggested that joint committees should be formed to activate aspects of cooperation between the University of Sudan and Chinese universities.

SUST Signs an Agreement in the Field of Medical Physics

On 19th of November Prof. Awad Saad Hassan, vice chancellor of the university, witnessed the ceremony for signing a joint cooperation agreement between the Sudan University of Science and Technology, Al-Neelain University, the Sudanese Atomic Energy Authority, and Khartoum Oncology Hospital and the International Hospital Group (Universal Hospital).


Prof. Saad emphasized the university commitment to providing training opportunities for students at the College of Science, Department of Medical Physics, and the College of Medical Radiology and Nuclear Engineering and other colleges of the university according to need and necessity.

Professor Saad addressed the ceremony and wished mercy the souls of the martyrs of the glorious December revolution and wished fast recovery for the injured and wounded. He also emphasized the growing role of academic institutions that contributes to the exchange of experiences, developing the practical side and increasing the knowledge repertoire.


It should be noted that the signing of the agreement was within the framework of Al-Neelain University’s celebration of the International Day of Medical Physics under the auspices of Prof. Muhammad Al-Amin Ahmed, Director of Al-Neelain University and Prof. Siddiq Tawir, a member of the Sovereignty Council, in the presence of a group of academics, students and administrators from the relevant authorities

Vice Chancellor Meets the Ambassador of Turkey in Khartoum

Prof Awad Saad Hassan, vice chancellor of the university, held a meeting with his Excellency İrfan Neziroğlu, ambassador of Turkey in Khartoum.


His Excellency the Ambassador praised the strength of the good relations between Sudan and Turkey, the number of Turkish projects implemented in Sudan, the scholarships it provides at university and postgraduate studies levels, in addition to the scholarships distributed in many universities.


The meeting discussed aspects of cooperation that could be implemented between the University of Sudan and Turkish universities in the fields of exchanging professors, students and experts to benefit from experiences, transfer knowledge and conduct joint research.


The two sides also discussed the possibility of holding joint events such as conferences and workshops, in addition to cooperation in the field of incubators, especially in the field of leather industries.


Prof Saad promised to prepare a report containing areas of cooperation between Sudan University and Turkish universities, while the ambassador promised to communicate with Turkish universities that have agreements concluded with Sudan University, and expressed his readiness to cooperate with the University of Sudan in all aspects required by Turkish institutions.


Workshop: Open Data Workshop


Al-Shaheed Conference Hall at the university hosted the scientific workshop for Knowledge Management for Open Data organized by the College of Computer Science and Information Technology, in cooperation with the Sudanese Knowledge Society and Impact Hub under the auspices of the Swiss Embassy in Sudan. The audience included students of the college of medicine, professors from El-Neelain University, Camboni College, and a number of interested people.


Scientific papers were presented in the workshop, including a paper entitled


Knowledge Management for Open Data


presented by Yusef Imam, a lecturer at the University of the Future. The paper dealt with how to build an open data scheme that helps the community to benefit from technology, provide data and benefit from it, and the paper indicated the importance of the university appointing the Sudanese community in this the field, because of its technological capabilities, which would serve the community in providing open data in all scientific fields and other disciplines as well as contribute to knowledge management and its multiple uses.


This was followed by a scientific lecture presented by Dr. Hisham Abdullah Mansour, staff at the College of Computer Science, in which he dealt with data science as a new science and its relationship with different sciences, and how to benefit from that by building an open database that is open to contributions. This will help to solve problems faster and develop performance in many scientific and life fields.

Workshop: The Future of Genetically Modified Cotton in Sudan

The Deanship of Scientific Research at Sudan University of Science and Technology, in cooperation with the Weed Science Center at the College of Agricultural Studies, organized a scientific symposium entitled "The Future of Genetically Modified Cotton in Sudan"


The audience included Prof. Yousif Mohamed Ahmed Idris, Dean of College of Graduate Studies, Prof. Amal Omar Bakhit, Dean of Scientific Research Deanship, Prof. Samia Osman Yagoub, Director of the Center for Weed Sciences, and a group of interested people, researchers, experts and students in the field of agriculture and its various sciences.

Senate Council Meeting 2019-132

Prof. Awad Saad Hassan, vice chancellor of the university, chaired the Senate Council meeting No. (2019-132). Prof Hassan welcomed the new senate members and wished mercy for all lost souls during the revolution and those among the university employees, and wished fast recovery to the wounded and injured in the December Revolution. 

 

Emeritus Professor Awards

Prof. Awad Saad Hassan, vice chancellor of the university and chairman of the Senate Council, issued the following decision: Granting the rank of Distinguished Professor (Emeritus Professor) to Prof. Abdelrahman Elzubair Mohmed Hamad and Prof. Osman Gmaleldin Osman Mohammed.

Based on the decisions No. 12 and No.13, respectively, of the Senate Council in its meeting No. (2 / 2019-132) on Thursday 7/11/2019.
