The history of
Sudan University of Science & Technology (SUST) goes back to Khartoum
Technical School and School of Commerce, then School of Radiology
(1932), School of arts(1946), Khartoum Technical institute (1950) ,Shambat
Institute of Agriculture (1954), Institute of music & drama and the
Higher Institute of physical education (1969). |

The substantial turning point was the inception of Khartoum
Polytechnic |

In 1975 which was upgraded to Sudan
University of Science & Technology in 1990 forming the largest
institution of technology in Sudan. The University increased ten fold
over the past 15 years in terms of programs and number of students.

SUST maintains cultural and scientific
ties with a number of institutions abroad and effectively participates
in international scientific activities through which it has ranked
notable standing and gained international recognition. |

SUST consist of 19 collages offering
different programs including graduate programs (PHD, Masters and
higher diploma) in addition to training and continuing studies.

Throughout its history, SUST's graduates
have been competent and skilled in scientific and applied knowledge;
therefore they have been desirable and preferable in the labor market. The
University manages regular trainings to its teaching staff and interacts
with the community. |

The University offers its programs
through conventional teaching means besides distant learning programs
and e-learning methods using the most modern laboratories, workshops,
networks and computers in the region. |

SUST specializations range between
engineering, business, agriculture, veterinary, education, science,
languages, radiology, laboratory, water technology and forestry to
creative specializations like fine and applied arts, music, drama,
physical and sports education. |

SUST's scientific contribution was
crowned with introduction of new fields such as computer and
communication sciences. |

The Computer Centre, Centre of Peace
Culture, Institute of Woman and Child's Health Development, Laser
Institute, Distant Learning Centre and Aviation Centre represent the
Universities reach to community. |
 |
The University is steadily proceeding
with expansion and modernization by disseminating knowledge, serving the
community preparing specialized framework and highly qualified staff to
achieve its goals and attains its messages. |
