SUST IMPLEMENTS ENABLE YOUTH PROGRAM
The vice chancellor, Prof. Rashid Ahmed Mohamed Hussein, inaugurated the Empowering Novel Agri-Business Led Employment (ENABLE) program for the youth in broiler chicken production. He maintained that since the beginning of 2018, SUST has developed a plan to feed the market with animal, agricultural and other products, serving the community and contributing to the provision of products required for citizens.
The vice-principal, Dr. Behagil Tayfur, announced that the ENABLE youth is part of a program funded by the African Development Bank and implemented in 11 countries with a total investment of US $830 million. Notably, SUST has successfully implemented the ENABLE youth program with a low rate of perished chicken of only 3%. He said that 20,000 chickens have been slaughtered and distributed to the markets.
The representative of the Ministry of Agriculture in Khartoum State, Khawla Bashir Al-Fadl, explained that the program aims at training young people in agricultural entrepreneurship for a period of one year in marketing and technical work to manage the project successfully.
