International Participation of the Petroleum Engineering MSc Student Husham Elbaloula at an SPE Conference held in Bahrin
As part of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) international activities,the 19th Middle East Oil and Gas Show and Conference has taken place in Manama, Bahrin in March 2015.
One of the conference associated activities was the SPE Middle East Student Paper Contest. This contest is the first of its kind which has been categorized as BSc, MSc and PhD divisions. A total of 25 papers have been selected for the event out of 80 papers submitted from different countries in the Middle East for the three divisions.
Husham Elbaloula, a Petroleum Engineering MSc student from Sudan University of Science and Technology has participated in the contest. He is the only candidate from Sudan University together with other participates from Qatar University, Sultan Qaboos University, The Petroleum Institute, Cairo University and UAE university. Husham presented his paper on Chemical Enhanced Oil Recovery Pilot Design for Heglig Oil Field in Sudan. His paper has been selected for further participation under professional papers presentations at an SPE International conference which will take place on 23 April 2015 in Saudi Arabia.
It is worth mentioning that Husham studied his BSc at the Petroleum Engineering Department of the College of Petroleum Engineering & Technology and currently working as a Consultant Reservoir Engineer at Petro-Energy E&P Co for EOR projects.
The college of Petroleum Engineering & Technology is pleased to have such great international participation from one of its post-graduate students whose work has been hailed at high technical levels. This opens the doors of encouragement for other students at both under and post graduate levels to follow suite.
