Sudan University of Science & Technology (SUST) & French Embassy in Khartoum Organize Phonetics and Phonology Workshop
Under the auspices of HE Prof. Dr. Hashim Ali Mohammed Salim, the Vice-Chancellor of Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST), the College of Languages at SUST has organized, in collaboration with the French Embassy in Khartoum, a workshop which has a thematic focus on the phonetics and phonology of French language
Prof. Dr. Gadalla Abdalla El-Hassan, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of SUST said that this interactive workshop represents a significant step forward in ensuring close cooperation between the University and the French Embassy in Khartoum, and reflects the genuine concern of both parties for training and qualifying staff to perform their assigned mission as required. Prof. Gadalla demanded the workshop participants to come up with insightful recommendations in this matter and take advantage of them.
For his part, Dr. Mohammed Ali Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Languages at SUST said that the workshop is a training course offered by various French universities and institutes to 40 students to familiarize them with phonetics and phonology of French language. “French is an official language in many African countries and used by different populations to communicate , therefore it should be given due care as a dominant means of international communication,” he said, stressing the University's interest to advance the spread of scientific knowledge and increase mutual understanding between people through education, cultural exchange and science.
