The project Improvement of Food Security in the Semi-arid areas in Sudan through management of Parasitic Weeds:First Seminar and Second Joint Committee meeting
The project Improvement of Food Security in the Semi-arid areas in Sudan through management of Parasitic Weeds held its first Seminar and the second Joint committee meeting on the 7th of July at the College of Agricultural Studies (CAS).
The seminar, in addition to top SUST, CAS, JICA and JST top officials, was attended by members of the project joint committee (JCC) comprising the federal ministries of Agriculture, Finance and Economics, Science and Technology and the ministry of International co-operation. The seminar reviewed and discussed the projectís achievements since its inception in March 2010 together with sustainability and continuity after the project final year (2015). Several research papers, on parasitic weeds management and biology were presented and discussed by Japanese and Sudanese scientists. Following the seminar the participants visited the projectís laboratory and experimental fields.
The project committee (JCC) held its annual meeting where the project activities were discussed and approved. The JCC commended and praised the commitments of the Japanese governments to the project and stressed the importance and necessity of fulfilment of the financial obligations of the Sudan government.
